Margherita di Savoia is renowned for its salt evaporation pond that stretches for 4,000 hectares (3500 evaporating tanks and 500 salting tanks), the average annual production of salt is about 6 million quintals. The guide includes a visit to Salina, which is also one of the largest wetlands in Italy, having about 63 species of birds; favorite spot for bird watching where also Frederick II took delight in hunting falcon. Finally we will visit the Museum of Salina, where you can see the evolution of techniques and tools used in the collection of salt.
